Unlike Thanksgiving, this episode is probably better in well-spaced smaller portions.

on this episode (recorded live in Council Bluffs, Iowa), we chat about what I'm thankful for and the notion that kayfabe (a shared delusion between spectator and performer) exists in more than pro wrestling, but in our social institutions too.

Thanks to Dischord Records for letting me use Nation of Ulysses music as the show intro and outro.

This week I attended the funeral for a family friend's 11 year old son. Things like that get you thinking. And with 2000+ mourners in line at the visitation, you have lots of time to think.

This episode we discuss how we live our nerdy lives knowing the end is always looming overhead. We talk about the role hobbies and distractions play in keeping us sane. in this episode we finish the story of Roger Martinez, the frontman of one of the first Christian metal bands who later turned to a life of atheism and blasphemy. What happens when we are uprooted from our world view and social connections? How frayed are the ties keeping us tethered to sanity? And what about the notion that a field such as Christian heavy metal may harbor frauds?

Next episode we return to nerd culture in general and take a break from the marginal world of Christian musicians. Thanks for indulging me!
